Instrumental and Vocal Pedagogy (IGP)
Study description
The training to become a state-approved instrumental and vocal teacher is the focus of the IGP program. In addition to weekly main subject lessons in the chosen subject (vocal or instrumental) and participation in various ensembles, a special focus is placed on the teaching practice of the future music teachers. A balanced number of theoretical, practical and pedagogical courses expand the study of instrumental and vocal pedagogy into a comprehensive and practice-oriented education with a state and internationally-recognized teaching qualification, which qualifies students to teach at various educational institutions as well as for further master's studies.
Study profile
The IGP program is a practice-oriented training program for state-certified vocal or instrumental teachers. Therefore, special emphasis is placed on gaining teaching experience throughout their course of study. This is promoted through various internships, in which students gain practical experience, as well as a series of practical, theoretical and pedagogical courses. In addition, through weekly main subject classes, the development of musical knowledge and skills in the chosen main subject (vocal or instrumental) is the focus of this degree.
